A Review of FOSDEM 2024

I had a great time attending FOSDEM 2024 last week. It was impressive to see presentations from big names like RedHat, Mozilla, and Google. Each session offered a lot of insights into where open source policy and development are headed.

It’s clear that open source has a bright future, but we also discussed the challenges, especially around EU privacy regulations and their impact on commercial software development. These conversations were crucial for understanding how we can navigate these changes while continuing to innovate.

The best part was the sense of community. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many smart people who are all passionate about open source. The event was organized flawlessly, thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers. A big thank you to everyone I met for the great conversations and for sharing your ideas.

Leaving FOSDEM 2024, I felt more inspired than ever to contribute to the open source world. A big shoutout to everyone who made it such a great experience. Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve together in open source!
