Back to normal university life

This week saw the return of university life that reflected the pre-pandemic times. Two thousand new students started at my institution, and there were no more restrictions, and it was great to see.

The whole learning experience has been poor for students since the introduction of online learning. While it looks promising on the tin, the result of "hybrid" learning has been simple: students were performing worse and not learning what they came to the university to learn.

Studying from home is a bad idea. There are distractions, and it makes learning less of an experience and more akin to watching a TV show or documentary. Students never participate and usually look to be in another world rather than focusing on lessons.

It was an interesting experience and experiment, but the conclusion is simple: face-to-face is far superior.
